Choosing a Theme
Choosing a theme for your wedding is a good way to not only get the look and feel you want for your wedding, but it helps to get you organized and keep you as less stressed as possible. Selecting a theme is a good option, but it is one that you should make way beforehand so that you can tie in other things like the dresses, tuxedos, flowers, etc. Your theme can be something really simple like Shabby Chic or something that fits your personality like a beach theme. Whatever options you choose, just make sure to tie in everything including the wedding venue .
Beach Theme
If you want a theme that is really aid back and peaceful, the beach theme is the way to go. There are a lot of different places in the world that have amazing beaches. Just look at a few places on Trip Advisor and Lonely Planet! You can choose from a variety of variations such as a church ceremony and a beach reception, beach ceremony and beach reception or whatever else you want that fits with your style. The color combinations are pretty obvious. You should use colors like deep blue, sea green, or navy blue. Once you do that you can then figure out any extra accent colors like pinks, greens, and other blues. Think of adding in whatever is in your surroundings like the color of the coral or the fish in the area. Also remember to check for tide schedule, the type of weather that normally happens around the time of year you want to have the event and any facilities around the area that can be used for things like lodging for your guests or in case it happens to rain half way through your event.
Country Style Theme
If you are looking for a rustic or country style themed wedding or reception, consider the location before anything else. If you want old world charm, simplicity, relaxation and have an old fashioned style a rustic theme is going to be a great one to choose from. For the color combinations, consider colors you see outdoors like earthy tones; browns and dark greens, as well as gold’s and yellows, sage, cinnamon and mocha. It’s also a great idea to bring some of the outdoors in if you are having an indoor wedding. Consider a few simple options like tall hurricane glasses filled with pebbles and moss or a centerpiece of moss and flowers and a few small twigs. Since this is a pretty unusual theme, but still a really cool idea, you will need to make unique wedding favors. Consider options like homemade jars of jellies or jams in mason jars, tied with ribbons in the color selections above with custom burlap thank you labels. If you want to do something else you could do a custom peanut butter coco in mason jars instead.

The wedding items you choose from your event should either be distressed or look distressed - which gives you the appearance that they are antiqued and old. You can find recycled or upcycled tables and chairs, use pillows that have a vintage feel to them by finding pillows that use vintage linens like lace and more importantly anything with roses on it! As long as it has a relaxed feminine feel to it, you can add it to this theme. One of the biggest trends right now for Shabby Chic is to actually mix old vs. new. So you can choose something vintage as well as something contemporary to tie it all in.
Worldly Traveler Theme
If you and your spouse to be met on a trip abroad or you guys just love to travel together, really cool idea would be a traveler theme and it’s pretty easy to do. You could do a global or map themed option that help represent your favorite countries or countries you guys have visited together along with different places or landmarks in those areas such as the Louvre or Leaning Tower of Pisa. You could also incorporate the food with different stations from the places you love the most such as a Greek Station, French Station, Italian, etc. Or you could have specific dishes from certain places that you loved the most like Halushka, Pierogies, and Grilled Lamb with cranberry mint sauce, etc. Adding names to the tables of different places is a cool idea too.
